A sixty-year-old man who had fled into hiding after defiling and impregnating a Kyaani High School girl has been apprehended by police in Kibwezi, Makueni County.
Since January, the suspect—who had been funding for the minor’s educational expenses—had been holed up in hiding. This came after he had attempted an unsuccessful abortion on the minor.
Following media coverage of the crime, he went into hiding until his arrest on Saturday night in Nairobi’s Tassia area.
According to Kibwezi police captain Joram Maina, the individual is being held and will be charged on Monday.
“We arrested him and immediately brought him back to Kibwezi. You can try hiding but in the end you will be caught and will have to pay for your sins,” Maina said.
The minor’s nurse who tried to get an abortion on her was charged and later freed on a Ksh. 500,000 bail.
