According to the weatherman’s most recent prognosis, the rains that have been falling for the entire month will persist in several areas of the nation, including Nairobi.
This indicates that although there will be brief dry moments, March will be unusually moist.
The head of the meteorological department, Dr. David Gikungu, predicted that there will be sporadic periods of intense rain in certain locations.
According to him, March is projected to bring above-average rainfall to the majority of the country.
He mentioned that flash floods constitute a serious threat, especially in the coastline region, the low-lying sections of the northern regions, the southeast lowlands, the Central and South Rift Valleys, and metropolitan areas with insufficient drainage.
According to the weatherman, farmers continue to communicate with their local agriculture extension agents to determine the best time and type of plants to plant.
A week after publishing a rain forecast for the entire month of March through May that showed above-average heavy rains, Dr. Gikungu released the particular forecast for March.
Important information about the distribution of rain in the counties can be found in the updated March forecast.
In the highlands of the Rift Valley and the area surrounding Lake Victoria, the rains are predicted to persist throughout the month.
These regions include the following counties: Migori, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, West Pokot, Nandi, Siaya, Kisumu, Busia, Homa Bay, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Bungoma.
In the Central and surrounding regions of the Rift Valley, rain is also anticipated throughout the month; however, there may be a brief period of dry weather during the third week.
Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi counties are all included in this region.
With sporadic pauses, the rains will also persist in the counties of Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, and Taita Taveta.
But in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, the first part of the month will still be sunny and dry.
The northeastern counties of Mandera, Marsabit, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana, and Samburu will see plenty of sunshine and dry weather, although near the end of the month, some of these locations may get scattered rainfall.
Nonetheless, residents in this area should anticipate more rain than the long-term average.
According to Dr. Gikungu, there is a possibility of lightning strikes in the area of Mount Elgon, including Kisii, Kisumu, Nandi, Kakamega, and Bungoma.
He cautioned the people not to seek shelter from the rain beneath trees or next to metal structures.
