A group of over fifty members of Parliament, senators, and governors from the western region has fully endorsed Raila Odinga’s bid for the head of the African Union Commission (AUC).
The coalition, which is well-known for having a significant influence in Kenyan politics, has supported Odinga as the most qualified contender to speak for Africa’s interests on the continent.
At a ceremony that was attended by notable politicians, such as Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula, President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration formally supported Odinga’s bid to become AUC chairman.
The presence of Speaker Wetangula exhibited the government’s support for Odinga’s candidacy.
John Waluke, the coalition’s chairperson, reaffirmed the organization’s steadfast support for Odinga’s ambitions and emphasized their plan to provide him with full backing throughout the AU chairmanship race.
All of the legislators in attendance, including Governor Fernandez Barasa of Kakamega, firmly endorsed Odinga’s candidacy.
Their unanimity in supporting Odinga underscores his wide appeal in Kenyan politics and shows a mutual conviction in his capacity to successfully represent African interests in the AU.
