Zachary Kingori Mwangi, a former police chief, has died.

Kingori passed away on Sunday, February 11, at a Nairobi hospital where he was being treated.

His colleagues received a message from his family announcing his demise.

“We wish to inform the public of the death of Mr Kingori Mwangi, a retired police officer. Kingori passed on this morning at a Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment. The family will update the public on the burial plans. Kingori Mwangi Family,” read the message.

The cause of his death was complications following surgery.

Kingori was the Western, Mombasa, and Nairobi Provincial Police Officer.

at addition, he held positions as Kenya Police Campus director at Kiganjo, police spokesperson, director of operations at police headquarters, and principal assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police.

His former colleagues extolled him as a man who was committed to his work and never wavered.

“He was a good man. May he rest in peace,” said one senior officer. He retired from the service in 2021 after attaining his retirement age.
