After Monday’s intense rains, more than fifteen households in Nyandarua’s Bongo area are now without a place to live.
Witnesses claim that at least 15 houses were destroyed when at least 5 trees were uprooted by the intense rains and equally strong gusts and fell on residential areas.
The area MCA said that a cow was killed by a fallen tree during an incident caused by the rains, which also caused havoc on crops.
“We are very shocked at the damage that the heavy rains have caused here. One woman’s house was completely destroyed by the rains, and we do not know what to do now that she is homeless,” Nyakio Ward MCA Zack Njeru told the media on Monday.
The MCA asked well-wishers to assist people who had been made homeless as quickly as possible, as they could have to spend lengthy, chilly nights outdoors.
