Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) have found a car that they believe was used in the kidnapping, murder, and eventual disposal of blogger Daniel Muthiani Benard, also known as Sniper, of Meru County.

The DCI stated in a statement released on Saturday that an intelligence-led operation resulted in the discovery of the car, a silver Toyota Premio, at a residence in Meru County’s Canopy neighborhood.

“The identification and subsequent recovery of the vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio registration number KCR 742N followed thorough forensic analysis of crucial leads, which pointed to a residential place at Canopy area of Kithoka, Meru county,” according to the statement.

The DCI claims that homicide detectives have determined that Vincent Mureithi Kirimi, also known as Supuu, is one of the suspects. He is the driver who rented the car on the day that Sniper was kidnapped and brutally murdered.

On that fatal day, the car was apparently transporting three other passengers, namely Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi, and Boniface Kithinji Njihia, also known as DJ Kaboom.

“Further investigations are ongoing with the Homicide team working expeditiously on the case,” stated to the DCI.

On December 2, 2023, Sniper vanished, and his body wasn’t found for another two weeks.

Later on, five individuals were apprehended in relation to the killing: Franklin Kimathi alias Dudu Ras, Timothy Kinoti alias Timo, Kenneth Mutua Gatiri alias Gasigi, Fredrick Muruiki Kiugi alias Pope, and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali.
